The current FERS supplement stops at age 62. There is a gap between age 62 and the age at which Social Security eligibility starts. This gap can range from 62 to 67 years old depeding on when the person is eligble for Social Security. The burden to fill this gap should not be placed on retirees since it is more difficult to fill this gap at this age. Retirees under FERS have served the public and this benefit should be provided to sustain them in retirement. This should be changed to have the FERS supplement continue until that person is eligible to receive Social Security.
