Consider the commencement of a trial run of an annual Purge to cut down on spontaneous crime and discourage heinous acts

Created by S.D. on February 27, 2014

Recently a screenplay and screen adaptation of the screenplay was released for "The Purge". While the story is certainly fictional, the underlying idea behind the story is quite intriguing .
People will always commit crime just as they always have. However as with the medieval times and with gladiatorial events, crime was often held at bay due to being in a controlled atmosphere.
The people of this modern world continue to commit crimes because they know that without a death penalty, they will just get a slap on the back or thrown in a state facility where they will be treated better than our elderly in nursing homes.
By considering a trial run on a sort of "Purge" for crime, America could lead us towards the "next thing" for crime prevention and saving taxpayers that extra burden.
