Consider compensation modification for all past and present members of Congress when looking for efficient budget cuts.

Every time there is a budget crisis and every year that there are budget cuts to be made, the uniformed services salaries and benefits are looked at as a "logical" first step to saving money. Underpaying our military is not the right course of action when attempting to ensure that our country is well-protected and defended. That is not inferring that service members should be turned into millionaires, however, they are paid less to pull longer shifts than the normal person performing a larger volume of work with less resources. On top of that, their lives are at risk every day that they go to work. My suggestion is to look into the salary and benefits packages of those on the DoD payroll who do not wear a military uniform, instead of jumping to those who are fighting for our freedom.
