Food grows where water goes. Propose a public works project to capture regular flood waters in the Midwest and transport the water to arid lands and cities in the near/far west. The project would provide flood relief to the central regions of the country and also stimulate growth in agriculture and cities in the near/far West. Similar projects like those built in California resulted in huge growth in that state with mufti-billion annually in agriculture and water for growing cities there. Wind and solar power could be used to power the pumping stations required to move the water west. The entire project would create thousands of new jobs, stimulate key industries and provide new food sources for the US and exports around the world.
