Two year Compulsory National Service upon graduation of high school has many benefits. For those able - military, for those who do not qualify - civil service.
Military:
Young Adults - If designed properly, it can give young adults with the option of military or civil service that provides them with discipline, self-respect, physical and mental conditioning.
Veterans - It is quite unfortunate that the only way society will care for its veterans, is if everyone is a veteran.
Education and Training - Graduating students can pick potential career paths of interest. Preference to roles in those interests will be given as they are available. There might even be rotations in career paths in STEM or critical analysis/thinking fields.
Exemptions would be possible for certain cases.
