Consider ending the Electoral College and instead use the popular vote of the people to elect the President.

Created by M.W. on November 12, 2012

We the signed believe the Electoral College system to be out dated and seek an end to it. When this nation was young and voters we not as well informed the system was invaluable. However in the information age this is not the case.

Under the Electoral College only the votes of nine so called "Swing States" matter. These states have the highest electoral votes. The votes of the other 41 "spectator states" are not needed to with the election. In reality a president can (and has) lost the popular vote but still won the electoral vote. This has shown the current system is flawed and should be abandoned.

A move to the popular vote would make the vote of a resident of Vermont or North Dakota matter as much as a vote in California or Florida.
