From the point of view of an ordinary citizen it would appear that most laws are created to help some segment of society. This may be business, law enforcement, government departments or even some religions. This behavior can lead to heavily weighted legislation in favor of only one group - that, in fact, harms the majority of the citizens of this country.
Laws should not be looked at from only who they will help, but also who they will harm. Does a law put a burden on the ordinary citizen? Does it remove rights from citizens? Is it a fair and equitable law that considers the effect on all the people?
My proposition is that all laws be examined for the harm they do. Treaties, having the effect of law, should also be considered in this way.
