Consider extension of FMLA time off be extended to considerate of Breast Cancer patients having mastectomy and reconstru

Created by E.N. on October 13, 2015

Working women diagnosed with breast cancer who have a mastectomy as part of their treatment cannot physically complete a healthy recovery between surgeries if reconstruction surgery is also part of their treatment. If a woman is made to wait until the next FMLA calendar period it creates a further hardship financially with the individual having to start all over with insurance co-pays. By the time of the second surgery most individuals have already met their co-pays and that burden has been lifted. As a breast Cancer survivor my job was threatened because of the time needed to undergo treatments. When undergoing reconstructive surgery It's normally a two part surgery. There is more time need to complete this process than FMLA allows. Please consider this petition.
