The federal government should consider mandating biometric fingerprint safety devices on all firearms made or sold in the United States by the year 2025. This will help to prevent unauthorized use of firearms by felons, and other prohibited possessors. Only the purchaser of the firearm will have his or her fingerprints programmed into the safety mechanism, thus the purchaser would be pre-screened via FBI background checks, and therefore only legal firearms could be fired by only their registered owners.
