While it is true a slower truck will have a shorter stopping distance that required distance will be impossible to maintain because a slower truck will always have faster vehicles passing it and moving in front of it an an unsafe distance.
Fatigue is a known issue but a driver forced to drive a speed limited truck under the speed limit may have to drive an hour a day longer to go the same distance as a truck going the speed limit.
Experts say that when a steer tire blows a driver should accelerate to keep the truck straight. Drivers of speed limited trucks mostly keep the cruise control set at maximum speed. They could not accelerate to maintain control.
