We believe that a department should be set up called the Department of Firearms and Ammunition, similar to the DMV, where responsible citizens can go and be certified to own a firearm. This department would be a one stop shop for those looking to purchase a firearm. It would issue the appropriate background checks as well as require that every person take a course that would teach safety and proper use of the type of firearm looking to be obtained. This proposal should also include restrictions on hi-cap magazines for those without a hi-cap magazine endorsement. It would also restrict online ammo sales for those without the proper ammo endorsement. This proposal can be a real bipartisan way forward on gun control without banning anything and should be added to the national conversation.
