Consider a proportional electoral system rather than single member districts

Created by C.E. on February 21, 2014

Our current electoral system (single member districts) allows only one rep. for each district. Under a proportional electoral system there are multiple seats in a district and seats in legislature are determined by percentage of votes received. For example, if there are 10 seats available and party 1 has 40% party 2 has 30% party 3 has 20% and party 4 has 10% then the parties get legislative seats based on their percentages. This will allow multiple parties with more diversity, accountability, and legitimacy than a system of just republicans and democrats.
