consider reforming the existing FEC system of publicly funded presidential elections.

Publicly funded elections were adopted for presidential candidates in 1974 when the FEC created a fund paid for by the people. Candidates received a certain amount of money to use on their both primary and general election campaign. If candidates accepted this money they could no longer accept private contributions and could only use a certain amount of their own private funds. After the recent Citizens United ruling, corporations and well funded special interest groups have much greater influence over candidates and thus threaten our democratic process. We must begin reforming our system and raise the amounts allocated to presidential candidates to keep up with the rising costs of running for public office.
