Giving tax exempt status to places of worship, i.e. churches, mosques, and synagogues, is not only throwing away trillions of dollars a year, but also discriminating against those of us who aren't religious (atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, etc.) . It violates the separation of church and state as well. Simply because a majority of the citizens in these United States are religious doesn't make it okay to give them special treatment, especially when those same groups discriminate against other groups (homosexuals, women, any minority, and basically anyone who doesn't agree with them). Considering this nation was founded as a secular nation (See Treaty of Tripoli and any non-biased history regarding the Founding Fathers), you'd think we wouldn't have to ask for this.
