consider requiring, as states do for automobile insurance, firearm insurance for damages/injuries caused by firearms.

Created by J.K. on May 23, 2013

In a manner similar to automobile insurance, gun owners would be required to have insurance against damages and injuries. Insurance could be purchased for individual guns and or collections. The premiums and rates would be established by the insurance companies on risk factors associated to both the gun and the owner; again, a situation no different than purchasing car insurance. Such risk factors would be established by the insurer. Adding this level of regulation allows previously banned weapons and accessories to be legalized as the cost of insuring such a weapon could only be done by those deemed responsible (financially and mentally) by the insurer. This would create insurance jobs and offer better gun regulation without (necessarily) limiting gun choices.
