Consider the sale of the state of Hawaii as a means to pay down the national debt.

Created by R.A. on January 10, 2013

In good times we can afford luxury, but in hard times we have to sell assets to pay off debt. If I had a favorite sports car purchased in good times, the responsible thing for me to do when i hit hard times would be to sell it before I took on more debt to fix a hole in my roof. An initial asking price of 20 trillion would pay off our debt and leave a little extra for some infrastructure investment back in the states.
