The shootings this year, all around the country, in places one would scarcely expect and by obviously impaired, barely human, people make it clear. The gun lobby needs to take a step back and the President needs to step up. We absolutely MUST get control of this situation, if just for our own safety and sanity. We The People have to make this happen. We must begin immediately restricting access to ANY guns in two ways: by the mentally ill purchasing them; and by proper (but negligent) owners not properly securing them. This is a federal problem because potential buyers can easily skirt State regulations and negligent owners can (usually successfully) easily claim ignorance.
