Consider shutting down the Department of Education and allowing each individual state to set their own academic standard

Created by Z.G. on November 15, 2012

Since it's creation in the late 70's, the Department of Education has been a vacuum for American tax payers. The United States ranks below Russia in both math and science. We as a country spend more per student than most countries of the world to no avail. No where in the United States Constitution does it specify that the Federal Government can meddle in academic affairs. Shutting down this program would allow states the ability to set their own standards, institute school choice thus giving families the choice in sending their children to the school of their choice.
