* Consider dividing distribution 'percentiles' by a tax denominator to derive a tax rate.
* E.g. If the tax denominator were 3, those in the 99-percentile of income would pay 33% in taxes, 50-percentile would pay 16.7%, 1-percentile would pay 0.3%.
* Everyone pays.
* Percentile factors help identify need and may help eliminate deductions/loopholes.
* If everyone were to be paid the same for doing a job, regardless of what it were, there would be little incentive for it to be done well. Success & innovation should be encouraged. People should be rewarded for doing well.
* However, 'equality' and 'liberty' need be balanced.
If runaway processes are not tempered, other freedoms become curbed & inequalities arise. Stark differences in opportunity have contributed to the fall of empires.
