We cannot, in the 21st century, afford the frivolous luxury of having each branch of the armed forces be completely separate! We are told of the many 'joint missions' that have become the norm. The days when the Navy had only ships and the Air Force had planes is long gone. Each branch has a slightly tweaked version of what the others have and pays a premium to have their own version. Military towns have multiple commissaries, multiple PXs, multiple everything! Why? Consolidation would save money, assist in field communication, and sharing of resources. The American People deserve a leaner, more frugal, more cooperative military.
