A constitutional amendment establishing term limits, 2 six year terms for the Senate, and 6 two year terms for congress.

Created by R.M. on February 20, 2013

The essential complaint of the "Occupy/1%" movement is the feeling that the government no longer represents the people but answers only to big business. Lobbying groups, funded by big business, exert substantial influence over politicians via (re) election funding . Term limits would increase rotation within the Senate and Congress and reduce, though not eliminate, this influence. Separate legislation to limit campaign spending would further democratize this process; running for office should not require so great a financial commitment as to require (indirect) corporate sponsorship, and the subsequent obligations that entails.
