Constitutional Amendment: Presidency is Determined by Popular Vote

Created by B.M. on November 10, 2016

The current method of electing the President, the electoral college, is a mockery to the idea of democracy. In the last 12 years, two individuals have won the popular vote, yet failed to win in the electoral college system. Presidents have been elected without the consent of the majority. This must end. Currently, presidential candidates pander to a handful of battleground states while ignoring huge segments of the population whose votes are taken for granted. Our voices must be heard too. Our votes need to count. We call upon Congress, in this administration or the next, to assemble a supermajority from both political parties, and amend the Consitution to have the presidency determined by the popular vote. Let our voices be heard.
