Constitutionalize the practice of indirectly electing Vice-Presidential running mates or enforce the 12th amendment

Created by B.E. on February 06, 2013

The electoral college and the election process that is used today is based on the current and past common practice of indirectly electing Vice-Presidents as Presidential running-mates, chosen in part by the Presidential Candidates.
This directly contrasts with the United States Constitution, which describes in the 12th amendment a process of two simultaneous elections one for President and one for Vice President each open to candidates from all parties the winners of which would be respectively the President and Vice President. This petition asks the current administration and the current Congress of The United States to choose between these two and abide by the 12th amendment or constitutionalize the current common practice. We ask that which ever way is chosen make it Constitutional.
