This petition is designed to encourage politicians to reach a constitutionally based decision in regards to suppressing recent violence. The second amendment states: "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." As Americans, we have the right to protect our homeland by way of a well regulated militia. The creation of any policy shall primarily emphasize an increase of social security. Such policies shall serve the purpose of defending civilians and shall not infringe the right to bear arms, including assault rifles. Policies to deter gun violence shall be by means of restricting the ownership of firearms to those who don't fulfill proper criteria.
