We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Constitutionally Protect Civilian Ownership of the AR-15 and all other weapons classified as Assault Weapons.

Created by J.K. on June 13, 2016

Guns in America is a complicated issue for many reasons. However, the AR-15 is used in less than 1% of all gun crimes. Most Americans do not know that gun homicides have decreased by 49 percent since 1993 as violent crime also fell. An assault weapons ban, "Should it be renewed, the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement,” a Department of Justice-funded evaluation concluded.
We ask that so called Assault Weapons be constitutionally protected and specific language be included to prevent any future Federal Assault Weapons Ban.
