Whereas it is considered morally permissible to raise farm animals under torturous conditions, and whereas it is not considered morally permissible to cause even a small amount of damage to one's house pet, the American Environmental ethic appears to be a culturally relative hodgepodge.
For the benefit of posterity, Obama administration should form a task force seeking to streamline our environmental ethic, and look for ways to create consistency throughout a woefully inconsistent system.
This task force would span across all departments, and would enable lawmakers to contextualize laws that effect the environment. Moreover, it would help lawmakers who may not have an environmental ethic of their own to make laws in accordance with, or against, the government's official stance.
