The construction of a Venator-class Star Destroyer is a realistic, obtainable goal that could be a multi-national endeavor fostering advances in technology and good-will amongst the nations contributing resources and/or scientists and engineers. While inherently expensive, such a vehicle, once built, could house thousands of scientists and be used not only as a test-bed for advanced propulsion systems, including field-propulsion, but for more mundane and necessary research on living conditions in space. It would also attract investment from aerospace industry leaders who are on the bleeding edge of technological development, such as Richard Branson and Bill Moller, thereby generating jobs and spurring technological advancement, and leaving a legacy the Obama administration can be proud of.
