Our current White House is at the end of its useful life.
It is not physically secure enough to protect our chief executive, regardless of the Secret Service's problems. It is insufficient to protect guest heads-of-state too.
It is time for the President to ask Congress for the funds necessary to start the process of rebuilding or relocating the chief executive's working & living space.
As a greek revival mansion built before electrification, it is not made to support our 21st century needs. The offices are too small for the equipment & people. The very layout does not support quality decision making, and that harms us all.
It does not even have the facilities needed to host large state dinners well, or securely, without lots of special preparations.
