Consumers should have rights to obtain verified phone numbers and contact information for all recevied telephone calls

Consumers must be empowered to know exactly who and/or what entity contacts them through a telecommunications device - for any purpose. With the continued concerns of fraudulent telemarketing scams, it will become increasingly important to thwart attempts of telemarketing fraud by returning the rights to the consumer. Modern technology of digitized telecommunication networks give thieves the ability to create software applications that support their illegal activities (fraudulent caller ID numbers, hiding behind private numbers, forwarded numbers, etc... ). This same technology also allows every telecom company to track the individual telephone number and contact information back to the paid registrant of that number and publish this information. Not having this right perpetuates fraud.
