Unemployment Insurance Benefits, for most recipients, does not even come close to covering current living expenses, much less allowing anyone to "get ahead." We are not idly sitting by waiting for a "weakly" check, but instead, we believe, the majority of those receiving monies are actively and diligently searching for work.
Terminating the Federal Unemployment Extension Program will cause an incredible amount of additional financial and emotional stress and that ultimately, will result in a larger burden to the Federal Government with the unemployed applying for other Federal programs.
It is devastating to be out of work, worrying how we will make it. Please do not eliminate the little amount we have coming in, barely keeping us afloat and off the streets.
