Continue health reform with an increased focus on public health.

Created by M.C. on March 31, 2012

The United States need a better health strategy: health promotion and disease prevention accounted for only 5% of health spending, yet 50% of all US deaths are caused by only nine conditions. The health care reforms so far are good, no doubt, but they are insufficient in that they perpetuate the focus on the biomedical sector at the expense of public health. We understand that it will be politically difficult to accomplish much else with a divided government and deep gridlock. But we must try; our health cannot wait.
