Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors were theorized 80 years ago. Oakridge National Labs created a Thorium Reactor that ran for over 2 years. Nixon effectively shut down interest in 1974 in favor of Uranium reactors in California. Kirk Sorensen founded a company in 2012 to get Thorium Reactors back into the mainstream. They are safe, they eat radioactive waste from current reactors as fuel, create energy, create jobs, and help save the environment from ourselves. Reactors are inherently safe by design but by products created from it are needed for medical procedures (Bismuth-213) and space exploration (Plutonium-238, non-weapons grade). Thorium Reactors can wean us off of coal so there is no more destruction by coal mine or carbon dioxide output into the atmosphere. Help us!
