Amtrak provides people with an alternative travel choice that is affordable, energy efficent and enviromentally clean. It also provides jobs building and maintaining equipment and track and is the best way to upgrade to the high speed trains we see throughout the world. I rode the German ICE train in the 1990s and they are worth the cost!
