Continue to support clean energy technology through fusion research.

Created by C.H. on April 11, 2012

The FY2013 budget calls for reduced funding for fusion research nationwide, and the elimination of MIT's Alcator C-Mod altogether.

For the US to maintain a leadership role in science and technology, we must effectively train experimental scientists. Fusion research has shown itself to be a key part of this training.

Fusion power will be clean, safe and reliable. Fusion plants will be able to provide electricity without directly producing greenhouse gases or significant waste.

Fusion research produces spin-offs, from the production of computer chips to thrusters for satellites. As research progresses, there will be many more such advances.

For these reasons and more, fusion represents everything the administration claims to stand for, and we urge you to reconsider the proposed cuts.
