In order to take effective steps toward a meaningful reduction of the deficit, we, the signatories of this petition, implore the president to continue to work closely with both houses of congress to solve our financial predicament. We further request that this cooperation result in a bi-partisan plan to balance necessary tax increases with necessary spending cuts, in such a way as will prove beneficial to the public at large.
