The Yucca Mountain project was created as a mass storage facility for radioactive nuclear waste which was far from human life. The storage facility would be deep underground away from life so that its radiation could not poison anything. It was approved in 2002 by Bush, but was ended because of opposition by Harry Reid in 2010. This waste needs to stay away from our cities and civilians, and this proposed plan had nothing wrong with it. Reid D-(NV) did not want this because it would be located in his state. This is understandable, but the mountain is 100+ miles from Vegas (nearest city). This waste needs to be stored in a safe and secure location. We need an area to store this waste because it is building up, and the existing storage facilities are nearing capacity. Thank you.
