Control Gun Violence in America and Protect Our Children

The tragedy at Sandy Hook recently can be prevented in the future if we take steps to do so. First, we can identify and report signs of mental health issues in individuals we know to authorities who can then take direct action to see that the afflicted individual gets help. A prompt intervention by authorities should be required in these instances to diagnose/treat. Second, we can and should have an on-duty Police Officer present in all schools during school hours who can respond to a shooter immediately and protect the children. Arming Principals and Teachers is out of the question. Third, we can ban all ammunition magazines and firearms, of any type, holding more than ten rounds. Banning "Assault Style" weapons alone will not limit the threat effectively enough. Thank You.
