Control how guns are purchased without infringing on our second amendment liberty with a ban of weapons and magazines

We are all saddened and distraught, however, Gun control for "law abiding citizens" is unconstitutional. There are loopholes that allow "non-law abiding citizens" to purchase guns. All gun buyers should be subject to a criminal background check before taking posession of a purchased firearm.
Implementation of a mental evaluation for firearms purchases could also be valueable not only to prevent an unstable person from purchasing a gun, but to enable that person to get the help they likely need. Properly utilized, these evaluations could potentially identify intent by the purchaser even if the person is not mentally unstable. Gun control is un-American.
