Neurotoxic pesticide chemicals, specifically neonicotinoids (neonics) and fipronil, have greatly contributed the world's bee population collapse and should be limited and controlled in the US. The US Government has stated that bees have been dying at a rate that is economically unstable-pollinators contribute over $24 billion per year to the US economy and are necessary for food stability. An international panel of scientists found conclusively that neonics are harming animals such as bees, birds, and fish.
The European commission has already banned neonics. Obama has created a strategy to "promote the health of... pollinators" but nowhere does he propose restricting the use of neonics and fipronil. According to scientific studies, controlling these pesticides is key to saving pollinators.
