Already we see in other countries that are only now receiving internet access faster speeds than the majority of the American people. Internet is more than just a luxury to be dispensed by a corporation; rather, it is binding force that unites us. And the simple truth is that it is in the wrong hands. The technologies used by the telephone and cable companies continue to utilize aging systems and infrastructure that cannot keep up with our current pace. Therefore, in order for our nation to excel, it is crucial for a national fiber backbone to be constructed. This will by no means be a simple task, but it can be done, if we strive for greatness.
