Convince employers to pay women for maternity leave and provide longer than 6 weeks for said leave.

Created by A.U. on March 13, 2013

The US is the only 1st world country that does not have a mandate for pay on maternity and paternity leave for when families are started or continued. Other countries give anywhere from 6 months to a year of maternity leave with pay as an option for when a child is born. The US does not mandate any pay for families while they are out recovering and adjusting to the introduction of a child into their lives and many small businesses are not even required to allow the woman to have at least 6 weeks for recovery. Also most businesses do not have any policy in place for the father. Due to high health care costs and the introduction and higher living costs due to the new child, the family missing that portion of their income is very stressful and many times puts the family in financial burden.
