Technology is currently available to auto makers that can protect kids and animals who are left alone in cars. We need a system to detect the presence of a living creature inside the car and trigger an emergency response if the environment inside becomes lethal. This could include rolling down windows, starting the A/C or fan, and honking the horn to alert conscientious adults in the vicinity. This system should be required on all new cars, and an after-market solution that can be cheaply installed on existing cars. Please do not allow auto makers to use this as a way to sell a new option. This needs to be a government mandate for a no-profit enterprise. With a hot car, child neglect is deadly. Please, let's stop these senseless and avoidable tragedies.
