This petition is important because not only is media stations at fault for covering officer involved shootings prematurely which creates division with Police Officers and Citizens but also between races. I believe that the Media has a moral responsibility to realize that the stories covering these shootings create or instigate problems.
I believe that until an investigation is completed in an officer involved shooting the coverage should take a back seat.
1. To give both sides a right to a fair trial if there may be one.
2. To allow Jury to be neutral not knowing anything from media and television to truly make the decision based on evidence.
3. We need officers to have that respect from citizens to maintain order and with negative media on officers that wont happen
