The Cost Behind The Label

Since many people still believe GMO should not be consumed, they have been petitioning to require all foods to have a label saying whether it’s GMO free or it contains GMO. Based on the Washington Research council, the Department of Health of Maryland would have an annual cost of $22.5 million to maintain a new department to ensure regulation and compliance of this GMO labeling. All of us will be paying for similar ridiculous sums of money. Since most states do not have the money to pay for this new department, so they could be forced to increase state taxes. If you don’t pay for this label through your state taxes, this cost could pass along through an increase in the price of food. Vote against GMO labeling or prepare to pay for it one way or another!
