Currently, the PSLF Program only counts service and payments since 2007 towards this program.
We are asking the administration to create a "Time Served" clause that would allow people who work or have worked in the covered professions to count that time towards their required 120 payments.
Additionally, we ask that at the end of each year working in these professions, 10% would be removed from their outstanding loan balance.
Why should people who have worked in these professions prior to 2007 be valued less than those who entered after 2007?
Student loan debt is a drag on the economy and a drag on individual’s long-term financial stability. We ask the President to act immediately to help people who have served in these honorable professions.
Mr. President, make Time Served count.
