This is a counter proposal to the NRA's proposal we arm teachers.
1. Hire a police officer for every school.
2 Train the officer in school counseling and designate him the assistant counselor.
I think this is a good idea for more than just curbing mass shootings. It builds a community mentality when children have early exposure to police officers in a friendly situation. They will get to know the police officers by name. At the same time the police are getting to know the children in the community. Train them to identify and help at risk children.
Another advantage is it will change the behavior in the school when a child has to answer to a police officer who can respond in seconds.
I would suggest either tax Gun makers or purchases. We tax tobacco for truth.
