The likelihood of effecting gun control is low due to the NRA and related lobbying. Imposing a 1000% tax on ammunition (similar to taxation on cigarettes) may reduce the use of both legal and illegal firearms in attacks on innocent victims. A 1000% tax on ammunition will not prevent citizens from purchasing ammunition to defend against an intruder or for recreational sports. The collected tax can be slated for victim compensation and enforcement of gun control measures.
