Create 22 new federal holidays instead of 22 furlough days.

Created by J.R. on March 05, 2013

In order to save federal money, instead of furloughing employees the federal government should create 22 new federal holidays. The effect of these holidays would be to save money (which furlough days do) as well as to promote greater social inclusivity of minority groups whose holidays are not observed by the federal government.

Holidays to be added would include, but are not limited to:
Chinese New Year
Eid al Fitr
Rosh Hashanah
Diwali
Purim
Mardi Gras
Cinco de Mayo
Juneteenth
Summer Solstice
Guy Fawkes Day
Halloween
Eid al Adha
Canada Day
Yom Kippur
Bastille Day
German Reunification Day
Jackie Robinson Day
Monday after the Super Bowl.
D-Day
V-J Day
etc.
