This petition seeks to urge Congress, the Senate and the Obama administration to draft legislation that creates a $5,000 or more tax credit for small businesses that hire unemployed college graduates under the age of 27. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national rate of unemployment in the U.S. is 9.1%, but for Americans younger than 25 years of age it is 18.8%. More than two million college graduates are unemployed and have to start paying back student loans six months after they graduate. This tax credit would help small businesses, as well as reduce the number of unemployed college graduates.
