In response to the denial of burial service for a military working dog I believe it is not only just, but proper, to include military working animals among those allowed burial in National Cemeteries. These animals serve their time and purpose dutifully with little recognition. Countless lives have been saved by using these animals. Cemeteries are not there for the dead, they exist as a memorial to the lives of those lain there.
Even if it is as minor as a place to bury the cremains of these animals with their names on a placard, that would be sufficient. Right now there is no such place to honor the ones that have saved so many of our sons and daughters.
